About Junaidah Parudin
Junaidah Parudin, or her pen name Azridah PS Abadi, is from Sandakan, Sabah and holds a Bachelor of Education with Honors from University of Sabah. Currently, she is working as a teacher at Sri Tanjung Papat 2, Sandakan Secondary School and has received guidance in the field of writing through the Creative Writing Workshop organized by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sabah in 1987. Started writing in 1994, her short story won first place in a Short Story Competition at Maktab Perguruan, Sandakan. Her stories and poems are widely published in the Borneo Post, New Sabah Times, Berita Harian, Dewan Sastera, Wadah, and URTV magazine. She has produced two radio drama scripts for RTM Sandakan in 1996. Her poems include those in the Antologi Puisi ‘Kelarai’ published by Kalam Nurani (2012), ‘Suara 5 Negara’ published by Tuas Media (2012), ‘Ketika Gaza Penyair Membantah’, published by Media Karya (2012), ‘Gema Gemala’ published by GAPENA (2013), MH 370 (2014) dan ‘Nyala Api dalam Dada’ published by ITBM (2014).
Her stories are also included in the Antologi Cerpen ‘Di Atas Kapal Nederland’ published by Tuas Media (2012) and 'Nyiur Gading Tinggi Menjulang' published by Iris Publishing and Distributor (2014). Her short story 'Seberkas Harap' won the ‘Sedco-NST-Bahasa’ Appreciation Prize in 2012 and her novel ‘Rintis-rintis Harapan’ won the Consolation Prize in the Teen Novel Writing Competition organized by Sabah DBP in 2013. She also won the Sabah Literary Prize, 2015-2016 through a short story entitled 'Emas Kayangan'.
