About Dr. Rosliah Kiting

Dr. Rosliah Kiting was born on May 1968 in Kg. Rangalau Lama Tamparuli. She is the eldest out of eight siblings and started her primary school at SK. Rangalau Lama then to SMK Tun Fuad Stephen Kiulu, Tuaran. Upon completion of SPM, she pursued her studies at Sabah Business Training Center and obtained a Business Studies Certificate in 1987. She used this certificate to work as a clerk account at Kota Kinabalu People's Hotel on November 1987. In 1988, she chose to further her studies at Maktab Kent College and started her duty as a teacher on December 1990. She took the SPM as a private candidate in 1997 and pursued part-time study until she obtained a Bachelor's Degree from University of Malaya in 2003 and a Master’s Degree from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 2006. She earned her PHD at Universiti Malaysia Sabah in 2016 with a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education.

In 1991, Dr. Rosliah Kiting married the late Fabian Daransun and was blessed with six children - two girls and four boys. Her two daughters chose to be in the medicine field and her sons chose the education field. The eldest child is a teacher while the second child is a medical doctor. The other four are currently studying at University.

Dr. Rosliah Kiting is also a Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Language and Communication, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim, Perak and specializes in Kadazandusun Language. She served as a Teacher at the Ministry of Education for 19 years, Part Time Language Teacher at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, Tutor at Malaysia Open University, Academic Facilitator at E-Asia University and Part Time Lecturer at College Yayasan Sabah.

Dr. Rosliah Kiting is very active in the research and writing of the Kadazandusun Language, Literature and Culture, and has produced eight (8) publications as co-author, six (6) books as chapter writer, some short stories and poems for the publication of Nusantara books, several articles in proceedings, magazines and online publications. She is also active in writing the Kadazandusun ethnic poems in the New Sabah Times, Utusan Borneo and Catholic Sabah newspapers. In addition, she has produced several articles and has presented seminar papers at the National and International Levels relating to the Kadazandusun Language, Literature and Culture. She is also one of the panels involve in the Teaching and Learning Curriculum of Schools and Universities, as well as being the author and panel appraiser of the Kadazandusun Language textbooks.

Dr. Rosliah Kiting is very active in several associations, especially the Kotinanan Koborosuratan om Koubasanan Kadazandusun Murut as the Chairman, Persatuan Penulis Etnik Momogun Malaysia holding the position as Vice President I, Chief Auditor of Koperasi Pisompuruan Kg. Tiong Gondohon and Kg. Puhus Tamparuli, member of Women’s Association (PEWARIS), member of Academic Staff Association (PEKA), member of Friends of PDRM, and member of Friends of Hydrants Program, Fire and Rescue Department, Sabah State Government.
