Hari Raya Aidilfitri falls on the 1st Syawal in the Muslim Calendar. In Malaysia, it is customary for workers in the city to return to their home town to celebrate with their families. After prayers at the mosque, they will go back to the house and ask forgiveness from parents, in-laws, and other elders. It is common to see open houses where families welcome and entertain family members, neighbours and other visitors.
