Chinese New Year, also known as the Lunar New Year, will be celebrated on 17 February 2026, marking the arrival of the Year of the Horse. This meaningful festival is a time for family reunions, cultural traditions, and welcoming fresh hopes for the year ahead.

Preparations usually begin weeks in advance, with families cleaning their homes to sweep away bad luck and make room for good fortune. Homes are decorated with red ornaments symbolizing prosperity, happiness, and protection. Festive meals featuring traditional dishes such as dumplings, fish, and rice cakes bring families together, with each dish carrying auspicious meanings of abundance, success, and longevity.

On New Year’s Eve, families gather for a reunion dinner to celebrate togetherness and express gratitude. The tradition of giving red envelopes, or hongbao, to younger family members symbolizes blessings of luck, health, and success. Fireworks and lion dances further enliven the celebrations, believed to ward off negative energy and welcome good fortune.

As the Year of the Horse begins, it represents energy, progress, and determination. It is a time to move forward with confidence, embrace new opportunities, and strive for growth. May this Chinese New Year bring happiness, good health, and prosperity to all.

Happy Chinese New Year 2026! 🐎✨
