Celebrated globally every 20th of July, World Chess Day was initiated to recognize chess as one of the most ancient, intellectual and cultural games, with a combination of sport, scientific thinking and elements of art. Similar to other boardgames, chess is an affordable and inclusive activity, it can be exercised anywhere and played by all, across the barriers of language, age, gender, physical ability or social status.

How to celebrate World Chess Day:

  1. Play or learn to play the game of chess
  2. Join a chess club
  3. Watch a film about chess
