Parasite

Parasite is a 2019 film, the first Korean film to win the Palme d'Or by unanimous vote. Here’s a short review of the movie, but you need to watch it to know more!

The movie is about the Kim family, consisting of father, Ki-taek , mother, Chung-sook, son, Ki-woo, and daughter, Ki-jeong, a poor family living out of a small basement, and working on tight-paying part time jobs, living hand to mouth.

Min-hyuk, an acquaintance of Ki-woo, recommend that he pose as a university student to take over his job as an English tutor to Da-hye, the teenage daughter of the affluent Park family. He eventually brings in his sister to work as an "art therapist" by making up lies to Mrs. Park, as she said her son has a real fascination with art.

While Ki-woo and her sister work there, they bring their parents to work as the chauffer and the housekeeper, and thus succeed in their dirty strategy to kick out the current employees. Although they are a family, they portray themselves as professional skilled workers, unrelated to each other.

The nightmare starts when something bad happens in the basement.  To find out what really happened, check out this movie, please!!!

Side note: As of the publication of this review, Parasite has won 4 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, thus making Oscar history as the first foreign language film to win Best Picture. More reason to watch this movie!
