The International Day of People with Disability (IDPD) is celebrated on 3rd December every year and has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992. The theme for this year’s IDPD is "Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership: taking action on the 2030 Development Agenda".

This year, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) focuses on the empowerment of persons with disabilities for inclusive, equitable and sustainable development as anticipated in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which pledges to ‘leave no one behind’ and recognizes disability as a cross-cutting issues, to be considered in the implementation of its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Therefore, let us remove the barriers to their inclusion so that they will be empowered to participate fully in societal life and be more aware of their rights, dignity and welfare. Check out the recommended books below to learn more about people with disabilities.

Quote of The Day

"I guess a big part of serious fiction’s purpose is to give the reader, who like all of us is sort of marooned in her own skull, to give her imaginative access to other selves." – David Foster Wallace
