Meet Aminah Sambion

About Aminah Sambion

Aminah Sambion was born in Kampung Kanibongan, Pitas. She started her school years at Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Kinabongan and continued her studies at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Tahim, Pekan Kudat. She has been interested in writing since in school and started producing her works in 2020. Her works were published in Daily Express, Utusan Borneo and e-Kreatif magazine, published by Sabah Language and Literature Body (BAHASA).

Aminah Sambion attended the Folklore Writing Workshop organized by BAHASA and GAPENA, and won the BAHASA 2021 creative literature prize organized by Daily Express / BAHASA with her poem entitled ‘Sebuah Harapan’. The short story 'Liku-liku Perjalanan' was her first short story to be published in Daily Express. ‘Kumpulan Puisi Cerita Tentang Laut, Ilham Tercicir Di Kota Sepi’ was the first collection of poems published by her. Apart from that, her two short stories are included in two anthologies of short stories, each entitled 'Parasit Kampung Kami' and 'Kita Bukan Siapa-siapa'. She is also a member of the Sabah Language and Literature Body (BAHASA) Pitas Branch and aspires to be a successful writer one day.
