World Youth Skills Day is celebrated every year on 15th July. The United Nations General Assembly designated this international day in 2014 to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship. While many of today’s youth inhabit a world of endless opportunities and possibilities, millions more are being left out. Thus, World Youth Skills Day is the perfect time to raise awareness about the importance of investing in youth skills development.

During this international celebration, you can still participate in various activities amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, but of course, virtually. Focusing on the theme “Skills for a Resilient Youth”, several virtual events will be held and on 15 July 2020, you can join an online panel discussion organized by the Permanent Missions of Portugal and Sri Lanka to the United Nations, together with UNESCO, ILO and the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth. Do check out the organization’s website for more details at this link.

Quote of The Day

"When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young." – Maya Angelou
