Ah, Christmas. The most wonderful time of the year where we are surrounded by family, friends, reunited with special ones and good food! Christmas is celebrated on 25th December each year by all Christians around the world to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
When someone mentions ‘Christmas’, snow, decorated pine trees, presents and of course, Santa Claus come to mind. It’s impossible to have a white Christmas in Malaysia but this doesn’t mean that the celebration is less festive, for Christmas is celebrated in Malaysian ways such as the massive Christmas sales at shopping malls, buying gifts, decorating and lighting the Christmas trees, caroling, fireworks, open houses, and visiting family and friends. Whether you're decorating your home with Christmas lights, or just watching Christmas movies with the family, there's no shortage of ways to celebrate! And this year, we are gifted an extra day to celebrate as the state government announced that 24 and 25 December are public holidays.
The Director and fellow staffs of Sabah State Library wishes all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2020. Have a wonderful holiday. In the meantime, we’ve prepared some of our favorite books below for you to read with your loved ones.
